Description:
This image represents the triumph of optimism over the elements. The rain at this location was so heavy that within twenty seconds of leaving the car I was soaked through to the bone - rarely have I ever experienced rain to match it. It's a minor miracle that the lens remained clear enough to capture the image!
It's quite rare to see such a strong rainbow - even in Iceland - and a near-perfect double rainbow placed so perfectly is a photographer's dream. To make it even better, the shadow cast by the crater rim matches up with the rainbow's position almost exactly.
Possibly my favourite photograph from the trip, it shows that beauty can be found even in the worst weather.
