Description:
I was quite taken by this snowfield in the Hveradalir valley. This place is littered with geothermal vents and springs. Even where there is no steam rising from the earth, the effects of the warmth underfoot are evident here in the melt pattern of the snow. Underlying currents of warmth have cut through the deep drifts in specific patterns.
The colours in this scene are very rich - the cool white and black texture of the surface of the snow is mixed with the blue hues in the melted areas and the rich orange of the rhyolite mountain.
