Description:
Known variously as the 'Three Fingers', the 'Three Ladies' and the 'Finger Stones', the Gurranes Stone Row is one of the most spectacular in Ireland. The largest stone is over four meters high and incredibly slender.
Originally, there were five fingers. One can be seen in the foreground lying where it fell. The fifth was removed in the 19th century to a garden in nearby Castletownshend.
If anyone has information on the stones other than what's mentioned here, I'd be interested to hear it. You can email me with details.
Made on a fine Spring afternoon, I used a very wide-angle lens to emphasise the dramatic nature of the site.
