Description:
One of the many so-called 'rock stations' scattered throughout the Irish south-west, the Bull Rock Lighthouse is perched on the summit of an impressive 300 foot high peak, thrusting out of the Atlantic.
Roomier than most rock stations, it sports not just one but two helicopter landing pads. This view from the old fog signal house looks north to the Skellig islands over the upper pad. It also shows the reason why this pad is only used during the winter - it's been overtaken by the island's gannet population.
A high resolution image, the detail in this print is stunning. As it was a long exposure, the gannets have formed ghostly trails as they take off and land.
