Description:
Durness is one of the most isolated of Scottish towns, situated on the north coast. It is the gateway to Cape Wrath, the northwesterly-most point of mainland Britain.
Smoo Cave is just outside the town, and is a sight to see. Once a hideout for pirates and bandits, it can only be explored by boat. There is a hole in the roof of the cave through which many people have been flung to their deaths over the centuries.
This image was made from the mouth of the cave looking to the outside. The walkway creates a pleasing line through the image, which is framed nicely by the cave itself.
