Hand-made portraits on glass or metal, created in my Kinsale gallery using the wet-plate collodion process. A focused, contemporary session (about 30 minutes) yields a single, physical original with presenceā€”made to last for generations.

An Image That Will Span Generations

Wet plates are made by pouring photographic collodion onto a plate, which is then sensitized in a bath of silver nitrate. After exposure and development, the resulting image is made of pure, metallic silver. It is not only beautiful, but also very stable and will last for hundreds of years. An heirloom for your descendants!

How Much Does it Cost?

There's no 'session' charge, instead you pay for each plate that's made. I offer two sizes, 5x7" and 8x10". Prices are below:

How Long Is the Session?

The session length will vary depending on the number of plates you want. For a single plate, about 30 minutes is usually sufficient. For more plates, we add about 15 minutes each. Each plate has to be prepared and sensitized just before use, and then developed afterwards.

When Can I Take My Plate Home?

Plates need to be washed and dried before they can be taken away. This takes about 45 minutes. So you can bring your plates home on the same day - after a quick stroll or a coffee break.
