Scotland

Scotland has a pull on me that's hard to explain. The crossing from Ireland is short enough, but the moment you reach the Highlands the light changes, the scale shifts, and everything feels wilder. Glencoe in winter rain, the Quiraing under fast-moving cloud, Eilean Donan at first light with mist sitting on Loch Duich. These are places I return to again and again.

The Isle of Skye is a favourite. The Old Man of Storr in particular rewards patience. I've stood up there in horizontal sleet waiting for a single break in the cloud, and when it comes, even briefly, it's worth every frozen minute!

This collection covers the Highlands, the Outer Hebrides, and the islands in between. Mountain ridges, sea lochs, coastline battered by Atlantic weather. Landscapes that feel ancient and untouched. For me, Scotland is the closest wild frontier, and I never tire of it.
