💡 Peter's tip:

For a living room or above a sofa, Feature or Showcase sizes give the best impact. Unframed prints are perfect if you'd like to choose your own frame.

Locally it's known as Lot's Wife, and once you hear that you can't unsee it. That tapered white form with the red ball on top, planted on the rocks, staring out to sea forever.

Baltimore Beacon has stood on this headland since the early 1800s, a navigation marker for vessels approaching the harbour. I've photographed it many times over the years but always wanted to do something different with it. On this particular day I had a tilt-shift lens, which lets you physically angle the plane of focus relative to the sensor. Instead of everything sharp front to back, you get a narrow corridor of sharpness cutting through the scene at whatever angle you choose.

So that's what I did. The zone of focus runs from the rocks in the immediate foreground, through the beacon itself, and on to Sherkin Island in the distance. Everything either side falls into blur. The effect is subtle but it makes the image feel a little strange, a little unexpected. Your eye follows that corridor almost without realising it, and you find yourself looking more carefully at what's in focus because so much else isn't.

Warm directional light gave the white stonework real dimension and picked out the texture of the rocks. High cloud kept breaking apart and reforming, so I had maybe a ten-minute window where the light was consistent enough to work with. That was enough!

We produce all our prints to order, so you can be sure you're getting the best quality work to hang on your wall. As a result, in busy times it can take a while to process the orders. In the worst case, which is generally during the peak months of July-September, it can take 4-6 weeks to receive large framed prints. Large canvases generally take 2-3 weeks. Unframed prints are generally also 2-3 weeks at worst.

We aim to get prints out as quickly as possible, so we would expect and hope that you would receive them earlier than the above timeframes. If you have a particular need to get a print quickly, please let us know in the order notes and we'll prioritize it for you, or you can email us at info@petercox.ie.

Prints are well-packaged and in the unlikely event that it arrives damaged, we'll send a replacement free of charge.

When your order ships, you'll receive an email with your tracking number.

Thanks for your trust, and we hope you get many years of enjoyment from your new print!

Saw this 7 years ago in Killarney in the gallery and should have bought it then. Bought it online this spring, and arrived quickly, with great communication! Has been framed, hung, and is being enjoyed! Even the framer said it was an AMAZING photograph!

This picture is magnificent in that it captures the essence of the Little Skellig Island. Every time I look at it over my sofa, I remember feeling grateful for traveling to Ireland and experiencing the way your photography mesmerized me.

I ordered Peter Cox's stunning photo of Small Skellig which now sits in my main foyer at home. I get as much enjoyment from looking at it every time I come home as I do explaining its origins to guests who remark and ask about it when they arrive!
