💡 Peter's tip:

For a living room or above a sofa, Feature or Showcase sizes give the best impact. Unframed prints are perfect if you'd like to choose your own frame.

This is one of my favourite photographs, and probably the most underappreciated in my whole collection. I made it during the Atlantic Light Project, flying over Glencar in winter. It didn't make the book because there's no Atlantic in it. The project had its rules. But I've always felt this image deserved far more attention than it gets.

What pulled me in was the tonality. The foreground is almost black, dark bog and heather soaking up what little light there was, and cutting through all of that is the silver ribbon of the river, catching every scrap of available light and holding it. Then in the middle distance, a lens-shaped opening in the cloud where light was pouring through, illuminating a band of green farmland and the lower slopes of the McGillicuddy's Reeks. So precisely shaped, that pool of light. Above it, heavy cloud pressing down. Behind everything, the Reeks with a dusting of snow across the peaks.

The conditions were far from straightforward. Heavy overcast for most of the flight, and I was starting to think I'd come away with nothing. Then this gap opened and lasted maybe ten minutes before the cloud closed over again. That's often how it works in Kerry. You wait, then suddenly everything aligns for a brief window!

I find myself coming back to this image again and again. It has a richness that rewards slow looking. It just feels like winter in Kerry, distilled into a single frame.

We produce all our prints to order, so you can be sure you're getting the best quality work to hang on your wall. As a result, in busy times it can take a while to process the orders. In the worst case, which is generally during the peak months of July-September, it can take 4-6 weeks to receive large framed prints. Large canvases generally take 2-3 weeks. Unframed prints are generally also 2-3 weeks at worst.

We aim to get prints out as quickly as possible, so we would expect and hope that you would receive them earlier than the above timeframes. If you have a particular need to get a print quickly, please let us know in the order notes and we'll prioritize it for you, or you can email us at info@petercox.ie.

Prints are well-packaged and in the unlikely event that it arrives damaged, we'll send a replacement free of charge.

When your order ships, you'll receive an email with your tracking number.

Thanks for your trust, and we hope you get many years of enjoyment from your new print!

Saw this 7 years ago in Killarney in the gallery and should have bought it then. Bought it online this spring, and arrived quickly, with great communication! Has been framed, hung, and is being enjoyed! Even the framer said it was an AMAZING photograph!

This picture is magnificent in that it captures the essence of the Little Skellig Island. Every time I look at it over my sofa, I remember feeling grateful for traveling to Ireland and experiencing the way your photography mesmerized me.

I ordered Peter Cox's stunning photo of Small Skellig which now sits in my main foyer at home. I get as much enjoyment from looking at it every time I come home as I do explaining its origins to guests who remark and ask about it when they arrive!
