Wildlife

I'm a landscape photographer first and foremost, but when you spend enough time sitting on cliff edges or lying flat on remote beaches, wildlife tends to find you. Some of my favourite photographs have come from those unplanned encounters. Puffins on the Skelligs, gannets diving off the Bull Rock, grey seals watching me from the shallows in Kenmare Bay.

Further afield, I've been fortunate enough to photograph king penguins on the beaches of South Georgia and Arctic foxes in Iceland. I lay in a smear of penguin guano for the better part of an hour to get one particular shot. Worth every second!

These images aren't the result of dedicated wildlife expeditions. They're what happens when you stay out long enough, keep quiet, and pay attention. The wild places I visit for landscape work have a habit of offering something unexpected.
