Framed prints are how I've sold my work since I opened my first gallery back in 2011. Every print is made on Canson Platine Fibre Rag, an archival 100% cotton rag paper with a semi-gloss finish that holds deep blacks and rich colour, and I sign each one by hand. The print sits in a black contoured frame behind a wide mount, which sets the image well back from the frame. It arrives ready to hang, and every photograph on this page links to its print.

Hand-finished in the workshop

Nothing here sits in stock waiting for a buyer. Your order comes through, the print is made, and I put the frame together by hand in my workshop here in Ireland. I clean the glazing thoroughly before anything else goes near it, then the mount board goes in on top, which separates the print from the glazing and gives the image its border. With the larger photographs I dry mount the print to the backing board, a fully archival process that keeps it perfectly flat in the frame.

I check for dust at every stage. If I spot a single speck in there once the frame is closed up, the whole thing gets opened again and cleaned - there's no talking yourself into leaving it, because you'll see it every time you look at the finished piece. Once it's right, I pin the back in, tape the edges to keep dust out over the years to come, and string it for hanging. The last job is the shipping box, which is built from scratch in the workshop and tailored to that particular order, because a print that's perfect in the workshop and damaged in transit is no use to anybody.

Down on the mount below the image you can see my signature and the year in pencil, which goes on every single print by hand.

Delivery

Allow two to three weeks from ordering to having it on your wall, and a little longer for the large framed pieces if it happens to be a busy time of year. Framed prints that ship out are glazed with acrylic rather than glass. It's just as clear to look at, and it takes the risk of glass breakage out of transit. Everything travels by tracked courier and I'll send you the tracking number so you can follow it along. If anything does arrive damaged, tell me and I'll replace it at no cost to you.
