Letters from the Landscape

Svalbard in summer, under a clear Arctic sky. A single polar bear stands on a lichen-covered ridge, skylined against the snow-striped peaks behind it. Strong directional light from the left picks out the texture of its thick fur and the rough ground beneath its feet. The bear is in fine condition, heavy and calm, completely at ease on its own ground.

I love the scale in this image. The bear looks commanding from this distance, but the mountains behind it put everything in perspective. That's the reality of Svalbard. Even the Arctic's largest predator is a small thing against those peaks. The light was remarkable that day, sharp and cold with no cloud to soften it!

What does shipping cost?

Free on orders over €75. Below that, you'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay. Every parcel is tracked and insured. Within the EU there's no customs duty; outside it, any local duty is the buyer's to pay.

Does the size include the frame?

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
