Letters from the Landscape

I'd been in Scoresby Sound for several days before we got this flight. Eastern Greenland is extraordinarily remote, and the fjord system is the largest on the planet. Most of the time the weather was grey and flat. Then on the last morning, a thick cloud inversion settled over everything and the sun dropped low enough to rake across what was left above it.

Only the uppermost peaks broke through. Snow on near-vertical rock faces, dark ridgelines, and below them nothing but cloud. The light lasted maybe fifteen minutes before the whole thing closed in again. I got one good panoramic sequence out of it and spent the flight back convinced I'd botched the exposure!

I hadn't. The warm light picks out every crack and fold in the rock while the cloud layer holds that even, quiet tone beneath. It's a favourite from the whole trip.

What does shipping cost?

I ship worldwide, and every print from Exhibition size up goes free to Ireland, the UK and Europe. Studio prints and books carry a small charge, and the cost for the size you've chosen is shown under the Add to Cart button. The full table is on our Shipping page, and you'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay. Every parcel is tracked and insured. Within the EU there's no customs duty; outside it, any import duty or tax is the buyer's to pay.

Does the size include the frame?

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
