The photograph
Blue Iceberg I, Svalbard

Letters from the Landscape

Svalbard, and an iceberg that had clearly been sculpted by weeks of wind and meltwater. The hollow eroded into its peak gave it an almost architectural quality, like a ruined amphitheatre. Heavy cloud diffused the light evenly across the ice, which is exactly what you want for this kind of subject. Direct sunlight would have blown out the highlights and killed the colour. Instead, the varying densities of the ice are fully visible, from pale translucent edges through to that deep, saturated blue at the core.

The sea was flat calm, which helped. The reflection adds weight to the composition, anchoring the iceberg in the frame. These formations don't last. A few more days of melt and that concave bowl would have collapsed entirely. I'm glad I found it when I did!

Before you buy

When will it arrive?

You'll get an email with tracking as soon as it ships. If it's for a date, a birthday, an anniversary or a new home, add a note at checkout or email me at info@petercox.ie. I'll do my best to prioritise it and give you a realistic timeline.

What does shipping cost?

Free on orders over €75. Below that, you'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay. Every parcel is tracked and insured. Within the EU there's no customs duty; outside it, any local duty is the buyer's to pay.

Does the size include the frame?

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
