Letters from the Landscape

I was in Iceland in April 2010 when Eyjafjallajökull erupted, and this is what it looked like after dark. The lava fountains at the summit threw red and orange light upward into the ash plume, colouring everything from beneath. You could see it for miles. The snow on the flanks stayed white and cold while the mountain tore itself apart above.

A smaller vent lower on the slope was pushing out its own column of steam. The sky behind all of it was clear, full of stars, that deep blue you get in high latitudes when there's still some residual light in the atmosphere. The contrast between the frozen landscape and the violence of the eruption was remarkable. I've never forgotten it!

What does shipping cost?

Free on orders over €75. Below that, you'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay. Every parcel is tracked and insured. Within the EU there's no customs duty; outside it, any local duty is the buyer's to pay.

Does the size include the frame?

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
