The photograph

Letters from the Landscape

The road markers were the only way to tell where the track ended and the hillside began. Everything else had been buried. Snow had drifted up against the posts on both sides, and the overcast light was so flat that the hills in the background just dissolved into the sky. No shadows, no definition, no horizon line to speak of.

I stopped because the simplicity of it caught me. Dark posts, white ground, a narrow road heading into nothing. That was it. The kind of scene you'd drive past if you weren't paying attention, but once you see it, the graphic quality of it is hard to ignore!

Sometimes the best photographs come from the most pared-back conditions. No colour, no drama. Just shape and space and silence.

What does shipping cost?

Free on orders over €75. Below that, you'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay. Every parcel is tracked and insured. Within the EU there's no customs duty; outside it, any local duty is the buyer's to pay.

Does the size include the frame?

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
