Letters from the Landscape
We came through a gap in the trees and the entire woodland floor was covered in blue. Four slender trunks standing almost symmetrically on the slope, fresh spring leaves filtering what light there was into something gentle. The overcast conditions were perfect for it. No harsh shadows, just soft diffused light letting the colour do all the work. I had a fast lens with me and opened it right up. The two closest trees are sharp, but the bluebells in the foreground and everything behind fall away into soft focus. It gives the image a three-dimensional quality, almost like looking through a window into the scene rather than at a flat surface.
Bluebell colour is genuinely elusive. That blue-violet sits in a part of the spectrum digital cameras find tricky, and getting it right takes patience. I'm glad I had that lens with me. Sometimes the best photographs happen when you're not looking for them!

Every print is made to order: printed, checked, signed, and packaged for you individually.
Every print is signed. Unframed and framed prints are signed and titled by hand on the white border beneath the photograph.

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
