Letters from the Landscape

I've photographed the Reeks from this eastern shore of Lough Leane more times than I can count, and the conditions are rarely the same twice. This particular afternoon, the lake had gone completely flat while an Atlantic front was barrelling in from the west. That combination doesn't last long.

I set a longer exposure to let the storm clouds streak across the frame, pulling all that movement into the sky while the water below held steady. The Reeks themselves sit heavy and dark across the middle ground, the triangular peak of Cruach Mhór prominent on the ridge, Carrauntoohil hidden by cloud behind. A thin band of shoreline keeps everything anchored.

Killarney gets a lot of attention for its oak woods and island views, but this is the angle I keep returning to. Three simple bands of tone, and a sky doing all the work!

What does shipping cost?

I ship worldwide, and every print from Exhibition size up goes free to Ireland, the UK and Europe. Studio prints and books carry a small charge, and the cost for the size you've chosen is shown under the Add to Cart button. The full table is on our Shipping page, and you'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay. Every parcel is tracked and insured. Within the EU there's no customs duty; outside it, any import duty or tax is the buyer's to pay.

Does the size include the frame?

Yes. A framed size is the whole frame, edge to edge: 3 inches bigger each way than the print inside it. An unframed size is the sheet of paper, including the white border where I sign and title each print by hand. Canvas and Floating Panel sizes are the face of the piece.
